ED & PE: Aftercare Checklist

Aftercare Checklist, What to Do After an Awkward Moment, Keep Connection

After a difficult moment, the goal is not to analyse everything. The goal is to stay kind and connected. Here is a simple aftercare checklist.

The checklist

  • Breathe and soften your body, especially jaw and shoulders
  • Stay physically close if it feels safe and welcome
  • Say one line, I am still here, I care about you, I want to stay close
  • Avoid apologising repeatedly, it increases shame
  • If you want to talk, keep it short, we can slow down, no pressure
  • Later, consider whether sleep, alcohol, stress, or pressure were factors

If it keeps happening

If ED or PE is persistent, a doctor led assessment can help clarify contributors and next steps.
