The goal with an ingrown hair is to calm inflammation and avoid infection. Picking usually makes it worse.

Do this

  • Warm compress for a few minutes
  • Gentle cleanse, no harsh scrubbing
  • Moisturise
  • Avoid shaving the area for a day or two if possible

Avoid this

  • Digging with tools
  • Squeezing like a pimple
  • Harsh alcohol products that sting
  • Shaving over broken skin

If you see spreading redness, significant pain, pus, fever, or rapid worsening, seek prompt care.
